Charles has been in the legal profession for over 40 years with extensive experience in commercial litigation and migration law and AAT appeals. He has also lectured in company law to MBA students. He has represented and advised business owners in both Australia and Hong Kong and is very conversant with many types of industries and businesses. He has post-graduate qualifications in linguistics and speaks two dialects of Chinese fluently. Being a fourth generation Australian-Chinese, English is his first language. In his work as a migration consultant, he has advised employers of various businesses in Australia on skilled migration and helped them get approval as standard business sponsors. Being a baby-boomer himself, Charles is mindful of the needs of a generation that did not rely on computers and IT and prefer to communicate face to face.
Charles Yuen, the CEO of the company is a fourth generation Australian Chinese born in Hong Kong who grew up in Darwin, NT of Australia.
He graduated in Law from The University of Adelaide, South Australia in 1977 in the same class as Julie Bishop MP, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia.
Charles have over 40 years practice as a litigation lawyer in 3 jurisdictions (South Australia, Hong Kong and NT of Australia) specializing in criminal law, personal injuries claims, motor vehicle insurance claims, commercial disputes, family law and migration law. He also lectured in company law for a few years at the Charles Darwin University in the NT of Australia.
He currently runs a law firm in Darwin, NT of Australia.
In 2008, because of his interest in teaching, he obtained a degree in Education and a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics to teach English as a second language. As an ESL specialist he provided coaching and training for prospective permanent resident applicants seeking to pass the IELTS English test and also foreign doctors, dentists, nurses and other health professionals who need to pass the OET English test for professional registration in Australia.
As a migration lawyer, Charles helps major Australian employers such as mining companies, hotels and restaurants to sponsor overseas skilled personnel and overseas business investors who wish to become migrant investors. Charles has also begun operating CJ8 Employment Agency in the NT to match local NT businesses with skilled workers needed to fill many vacancies in the NT for skilled people in hospitality, trades and many other occupations that are in short supply in the NT. He will also be looking into the area of establishing a training college for locals who want to have new skills.
